The Wake Up Process

A 12-module journey through every dimension of human life. Written teaching. Personal inquiry. The steady practice of returning to Awareness. Not a philosophy course — a lived path to discovering the stable, whole, and loving nature that is your true self.

What is the Wake Up Process?

The Wake Up Process was developed by Lisa Marie Mansfield over 33 years of work at the intersection of body, mind, and spirit. It is grounded in Buddhist principles and designed to be lived in the practical world — how to navigate grief, how to improve relationships, how to make wise decisions rather than reactive ones.

Each module includes a written teaching to revisit daily, and a personal inquiry to sit with and bring to the group. This will never be about a left-brain, mental understanding. It becomes an embodied knowing — one that arrives over time, through practice and presence. The mind cannot figure its way to awakening. It discovers it, slowly, through living the process.

Not Meditation

No cushion required. Short, intentional returns to Awareness throughout the day — at a stoplight, before a meal, upon waking.

Not Self-Help

This process doesn't refine your story. It steps outside it entirely — offering a different vantage point from which everything looks different.

Embodied Knowing

Understanding arrives over time. The modules are designed to be returned to, not read once. Each return brings the realization closer.

The 12 modules move through a natural progression — from recognizing your true nature, through the full terrain of human experience, to arriving at a life lived as love in action.


Foundation

Our True Nature is Pure Love

Awareness · Pure Love · The Practice Begins

The foundation of the entire journey. Pure Awareness and pure love are not two things — they are one. This module introduces the central practice of resting as Awareness: a gentle, repeatable shift of attention, many times throughout the day, toward the stable ground that underlies all thought and emotion. Together we will remember, again and again, that Awareness is our unchanging ground — even when everything around us is changing.


Identity

You Are Loving Awareness — Not Your Story

Most of us have spent years believing that our arising thoughts mean something true about who we are. The perfectionist. The doubter. The self-hater. The worrier. This module empowers you with the liberating force of Truth: you are not any of those passing thoughts. As you practice resting as Awareness, these voices become fainter — moving from the foreground to the background — until one day you may be surprised to find they've lost the power to run or ruin your life.


Body & Healing

Honoring the Physical Body

Formless Awareness · Healing · The Body as Expression

For thousands of years, sages and saints from every tradition have answered the question Who am I? with the same answer — and now science is beginning to agree. You have a body, but you are not limited to one. As formless Awareness you exist in a field of knowing and creative intelligence, inclusive of the body but not confined to it. Once we stop perceiving ourselves as only flesh and bone, we become free to actually support and nourish the body from a place where physical strength, health, and happiness arise naturally. Emotions

Honoring All Emotions

Emotional Freedom · Energy · Responsive vs Reactive

Emotions are energy. Not good or bad — energy. It wasn't until we were taught that certain emotions were inappropriate that we began to hold them back. And when this holding back occurs, a buildup of repressed emotional energy begins to affect the body and spirit. This module teaches you to stop judging emotions and instead befriend them as the passing display they are. Through resting as Awareness, we become increasingly emotionally responsive rather than reactive. True well-being, we discover, is not dependent on how we feel in any given moment.


Equanimity

In Truth, All Is Well

Stability · Undying Awareness · Equanimity

As the practice deepens, a new foundation begins to emerge. Focusing on afflictive thoughts stirs up worry, anxiety, and confusion. Focusing on Awareness elicits calmness, clarity, and a balanced perspective. All thoughts, all beliefs, all emotions — even the physical body itself — are only a passing display within Awareness. Therefore who you are is NOT defined nor limited by any of it. Like waves flowing in and out of the ocean, emotions are allowed their natural ease — coming and going — without disturbing the Truth of who you are. I am stable, undying Awarenes


Loss & Grief

Compassionate Grieving · Attachment · Presence

All emotions, sensations, and thoughts that arise within the grief process are a passing display within Awareness. We recognize this Truth — and at the same time compassionately honor the full process of grieving. There is no right way to grieve. There is no timeline. All emotions are welcome; there is no need to hide them, push them away, or try to speed up the process. And when we experience the death of a loved one, a profound comfort can arrive: the Awareness that animated their body remains. In time, we may even sense their energetic presence. This module also addresses attachment — and the natural shift that occurs as Oneness becomes more real than separation


Relationships

Conscious Connection · Projection · Oneness

When we see others through the lens of Awareness — their True Nature — rather than through the lens of our stories about them, something fundamental shifts. Conflict softens. Intimacy deepens. Relationships become more harmonious not because the other person has changed, but because we are seeing more clearly. This module explores how unconscious projections and conditioned beliefs create friction and disconnection, and how the practice of resting as Awareness gradually transforms the way we show up for everyone around us.


Anger & Aliveness

The Power of Anger & Rage

Conscious Release · Creativity · Unmet Needs

Anger and rage are some of the most judged and feared emotions — and some of the most suppressed. We live in a time when repressed anger is being acted out in unconscious and unkind ways. This module takes a courageous, compassionate approach: when anger is moved through consciously, it is a potent energy that inspires change, creativity, and aliveness. Opening to the conscious release of repressed anger awakens blocked energy in the body and frees it to be utilized in beneficial ways. Inquiry is used to uncover the unmet needs beneath the surface of the anger.


Intimacy & Pleasure

Sexuality & Intimacy

Shame Release · Birthright · Embodied Pleasure

Enjoying intimate touch and sexuality are among the great gifts of inhabiting a physical body. Yet for many people, sex and intimacy carry a history of pain, shame, confusion, or embarrassment — from trauma, from religious repression, from messages absorbed long ago. This compassionate module creates safe space to examine those conditions honestly and to reclaim what is your birthright: healthy intimacy and pleasure, free from guilt or shame. Regardless of relationship status, orientation, or history — opening to pleasure supports greater wellbeing. As you rest as Awareness, your actions become discerning and caring toward yourself and others.


Liberation

Fear, Survival & Death

Undying Awareness · Fearlessness · True Security

The direct realization that you are stable, undying Awareness is a mental and emotional game changer. Worry, anxiety, and fear as they relate to survival and death begin to shift. Although these emotions may still arise, there is now a stable ground from which you clearly see them as passing display. The body drops away — but who you are never dies. Whatever circumstances arise that appear to threaten your physical existence, the Truth of who you are as Awareness remains untouched. Financial fears, health fears, the fear of death itself — all are examined from this new ground. The result is not indifference, but a deep and genuine peace.


Purpose & Gifts

Your Gifts, Talents & Expression in the World

Purpose · Self-Comparison · Living Contribution

Each of us brings our own special gifts to the planet. And life provides the opportunity to live into what those gifts are, and how best to offer them. In the past, you may have given power to thoughts like: I should be working harder. I'm not living my purpose. I don't know what my purpose is. Remember — these are only passing thoughts. They are not a problem to be fixed. As you rest as Awareness, peace, clarity, wisdom, and compassion become your new normal. You trust that your gifts and talents will naturally be revealed, and that inherently you will know how to use them for the benefit of all.

Not a destination — a transmission of Truth. By Module 12, participants carry an embodied vision of the life that has been taking shape throughout the process. Life flows with ease and enjoyment. Emotional and mental balance is the natural state. Decisions arise from clarity and discernment. Relationships are harmonious and filled with great care and kindness. Gifts and talents are shared freely, with confidence that your life is one of benefit. Laughter, play, and adventure are welcomed. And underneath all of it — a deep, relaxed knowing that all is well, and that life is a blessing of great benefit.
